There is a new upcoming trend in Tourism and travellers are becoming more environmentally conscious; this trend is more than just a way to bring in new business it is also a way to help you save energy and reduce your costs.

How Green Are You?
- Does your Hotel have an environmental policy/set of policies in place?

Does your Hotel commit to the following:
- Energy conservation
- Water conservation
- Efficient use Waste management and resource use reduction, reuse, and recycling
- Reduction in, and proper use and handling of, hazardous and toxic substances
- “Eco-purchasing” - i.e. factoring environmental considerations into purchasing decisions/strategies
- Community involvement and support Relevant training and education
- Does your hotel have a formal, written action plan that addresses policy commitments exist?
- When was the plan last time reviewed?
- Does your Hotel provide Environmental safe products in the room
- Has an individual/group of individuals been assigned responsibility for directing and coordinating environmental initiatives in conjunction with your local Government guidelines.

- Are guestrooms equipped with tent cards/signage which give guests the option to reuse linens and towels instead of having them replaced daily?
- Does your Hotel encourage guests to conserve and re-use towels
- Are usable bars of soap, individual shampoos, and other amenities collected for donation to various charities, schools and/or staff?
- Do you currently monitor greenhouse gas emissions related to energy consumption?
- Does the facility use a waste compactor or commercial bailer?
- What percentage of hazardous substances have been replaced with eco-labeled or other non-hazardous alternatives (e.g. detergents, cleaners, pesticides etc.)?
